NEEDLE FELTED EASTER EGGS LINCOLN, MT
MARCH 25, 2023 / 11am-2pm THE MONTANAN STEAKHOUSE
Contact me directly (goldieknotsmt@gmail.com) to reserve your space in my Needle-Felted Easter Egg class. In this three-hour, interactive class you’ll learn how to needle-felt on a styrafoam surface. We’ll start with a background and then you will be able to create your own design on your egg. Cost is $45 and includes everything you need to make one egg in class. Additional kits may be available for purchase at the end of class. Class size limited to 15.
WOOLEN WATERCOLORS – PAINTING WITH WOOL LINCOLN, MT
APRIL 20, 2023 / 6pm-8:30pm THE MONTANAN STEAKHOUSE
Want to learn to Paint with Wool? I’ll be offering my Woolen Watercolors class at the Montanan Steakhouse on Thursday, April 20th from 6pm-8:30pm. You can grab a glass of wine and an appetizer if you’d like while I show you how to create your own masterpiece using locally sourced Montana wool!
Class size limited to 10 participants. The cost is $60 and I’ll provide everything you need including frame and mat! You’ll go home with a beautiful framed piece of art! NEEDLE-FELTED SOAP LINCOLN, MT
APRIL 23, 2023 / 11am-1:30pm THE MONTANAN STEAKHOUSE
Looking for the perfect Mother’s Day gift? How about my Goldieknots Soap in a Sweater, needle-felted with your very own design? It’s a pretty and useful gift! We’ll start with two bars of my Soap in a Sweater (either natural or dyed colors) and then learn about needle-felting into a harder surface to create something beautiful. You’re welcome to bring ideas for inspiration.

GREAT BASIN FIBER ARTS FAIR FARMINGTON, UT
APRIL 28, 2023 / 9am-4pm FIBER PREP 101
Are you new to fiber processing or wanting to learn how to start from the beginning? If so, this is the perfect class for you! During this class we’ll cover the basic types of wool and best preparation practices including skirting, picking, washing, carding, and combing. There will be plenty of time for questions and for those who have experience and would like, you’ll have the opportunity to spin some of the fiber as well. In the morning we’ll go over types of wool and washing of fiber, and in the afternoon, process it for spinning. Also provided as part of materials will be a resource binder with information on wool, processing equipment, best practices, tips, tricks, and other helpful information.

Do you love sheep and wish you could have some of your very own? Well, I can’t promise a real sheep, but these Needle-Felted Sheep Ornaments are the next best thing! In this three-hour fun and interactive workshop, you will create your very own festive and decorative needle-felted sheep ornaments. Choose from white or brown local Montana wool from my own flock of sheep to make your ornaments. You will have time to complete one ornament in class.

Have you ever wanted to ply the perfect yarn? Is your plying coming out underpin or over-energized? Then this class is perfect for you! In this three-hour interactive class, we’ll talk about different types of plying and what methods are best for various applications,. Then we’ll spin and learn how to ply a perfectly balanced yarn using some handy tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way!
This class is open to all spinners who are already able to spin a consistent single and know the basics of how to ply.

In this beginning class, you’ll learn about wheels, spinning methods, best fiber for beginning spinners, and basic wheel maintenance. In this three-hour class, you’ll learn wheel basics, how to spin a single, and learn the basics of plying. By the time you leave, you will have a basic understanding of your wheel and the skills to start spinning on your own. There is no experience needed and I’ll provide the fiber, tools, and a resource guide to get you on your way – you just bring yourself and your wheel.

I’ll be teaching Saturday and Sunday at Sage Ridge Mill & Critters in Clearmont, WY. Saturday morning starts with Beginning Knitting, Saturday afternoon, Needle-Felted Sheep, and Sunday, Woolen Watercolors! Saturday night around the campfire, I’ll be helping problem solve and troubleshoot for spinners.

AUGUST 19, 2023 / 9am-4pm FIBER VARIETY
In this all-day, fun and informative class, learn the basics of fiber prep for various breeds of sheep using my locally sourced fiber from local wool growers in my area.
You’ll learn breed characteristics for each of five breeds, along with the best ways to prep each fiber and what each type is best suited for. We’ll cover skirting, picking, washing, carding, and combing. Then you’ll be able to “test spin” each of the fibers.
This class is great for beginners as well as those who have been around wool for a long time – and everyone in between – which means you!

OCTOBER 7, 2023 NEEDLE-FELTED SNOWMEN ORNAMENTS
Create your very own festive & decorative snowman (or as a gift for a friend) using Montana grown wool and locally sourced yarn and accessories. Materials include a kit with everything you will need to make one snowman in class (fiber, felting needle, hand-crocheted scarf, yarn, and ornament hanger), as well as felting mats – all of which students will take home at the end of class. Additional kits may be available for purchase at the end of the class. Children over the age of 8 are welcome to participate with an adult. No prior felting experience needed.
