Saturday, 5/15/2020 9a.m – Noon. Beginning Spinning – Wheel

Have you ever wanted to learn how to spin your own yarn? It’s fun, it’s relaxing, and I can show you how! In this beginning class, you’ll learn about spinning methods, best fiber for beginning spinners, and basic wheel maintenance. We’ll start with spinning singles and then move into plying. By the time you leave, you will have a basic understanding and the skills to start spinning on your own. There is no experience needed and I’ll provide the fiber, tools, and a resource guide to get you on your way – you just bring yourself and your wheel.

Saturday, 5/15/2020 1pm-4pm It’s So Fine – Learning to Spin Lace Yarn

Have you ever wanted to be able to spin a fine, laceweight yarn?  Think it can’t be done on the wheel you have?  Think again, because I bet I can show you how in this half-day fine spinning workshop!  We’ll slow everything way down, and by the end of class, you’ll have a better understanding of what makes… and how to spin an even, fine single.  Class participants should be able to already spin a consistent single and know how to ply.

Are you new to fiber processing or wanted to start from the beginning?  If so, this is the perfect class for you!

In this all day class, we’ll go over the basic types of wool and fiber processing tips for the various types.  Then, we’ll cover best preparation practices including skirting, picking, washing, carding, and combing.  There will be plenty of time for questions, learning knew prep skills, and for those who have experience and would like, you’ll have the opportunity to spin some of the fiber you process as well.

Sunday, 7/11/2021 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Woolen Watercolors – Painting with Wool

Come create your very own masterpiece while learning to paint with wool.  We’ll start with needle-felting your design, building color and textures, and then we’ll finish it off with a steam wet-felt before matting and framing your work.  I’ll provide everything you need, including colored fiber, felting needles, foam mats, picture mat and frame, and you bring your love of color and a willingness to learn and create! You will be able to take all materials home with you at the end of class to continue with your creativity at home.
